Keta (VR) April 11, GNA – Mr. Kwame Dzudzorli Gakpe, Member of Parliament for Keta Constituency in the Volta Region, has pledged his full support for Mr. Wisdom Seade, the newly approved Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the area.
The support comes as a significant boost to Mr. Seade’s leadership which demonstrated a unified commitment, unity, and collaboration to drive development in the entire Keta municipal assembly.
Mr. Gakpe, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, during the Municipal Chief Executive confirmation exercise at the Keta Municipal
Assembly hall said that the approval of Mr. Wisdom Seade as the next MCE was a crucial step towards addressing the challenges facing Keta.
“As the MCE, he will oversee the implementation of development projects and work closely with stakeholders to improve the lives of residents and as the MP of the area we will work closely with him for us to reshape and revamp Keta,” he said.
He said some key areas that were identified by the assembly for immediate urgent attention include improving roads, water, sanitation, rural electrification projects, economic growth, enhancing education and healthcare services to improve the quality of life for residents, among others.
He said other areas such as tourism development, promotion sports, entertainment, youth apprenticeships instituted programmes to enable acquire vocational skills to boost the local economy would also receive some level of attentions.
“Mr. Seade is one of us, and as the MP of area, l will collaborate with him in all areas of activities so that we will be able to meet the resetting agenda, and l urged all other assembly members to rally support behind us to deliver on our promises.”
Mr. Gakpe explained that a strong unity and cooperation, is essential for effective governance and development in Keta which would also underscores the importance of collaborative leadership in driving progress and stakeholders, chiefs, and the public needed to get involved for collective decision making and engagement.
He said that construction works would commence soon on the dilapidated and dusty Anlo-Afiadenyigba to Havedzi roads which was left unattended to by the previous Nana Addo led administration for easy movement and to prevent unforeseen and unnecessary accidents in the area.
Some residents of Keta GNA spoke with were eagerly waiting for the implementation of development projects and initiatives under Mr. Seade’s leadership to improved infrastructure, enhanced education, and healthcare services, among others to increased economic opportunities.
They said that Keta Municipal Assembly faced several challenges, including addressing the impacts of flooding and promoting economic growth and the collaborative support between the two figureheads would champion the crucial leadership roles to overcome the pressing challenges for better governance and development.
The pledge of support from Mr. Gakpe to Mr. Seade was also described as a positive development for Keta, which demonstrated a shared commitment to driving progress to improve the lives of residents in the area.
Mr. Wisdom Seade, the newly approved MCE of Keta received overwhelming 100 per cent endorsement from the 32-assembly member which comprised of 22 elected and 10 government appointees which indicated more than the required the two-third votes needed for the position.
He further appealed to the public to do away with any differences and come together under one umbrella to support him and one another and help the communities to overcome challenges and build a better future.
Mr. Seade in the coming days, is expected to tender official resignation letter as the Keta NDC Chair and the assembly member of Anyako electoral area for by-election processes to begin.
