Agona West Assembly organises send-off for retired Environmental Health Officer

Agona Swedru (C/R), April 08, GNA – The Agona West Municipal Assembly in collaboration with the Management of the Environmental Health and Sanitation Department has organised a send-off party for Mrs Ernestina Kumah, Environmental Health and Sanitation Officer, who has retired.

The momentous occasion was attended by Swedruman Council of Chiefs led by Nana Kweku Esieni V, Regent of the town, Queen mothers, Officers of the Agona West Municipal Assembly, heads of Department and the family of the retiree.

Addressing the gathering, Nana Esieni expressed gratitude to Mrs Kumah for her hard work, dedication and selfless services rendered to the entire Agonaman over the past decades.

According to the Nifahene, the meritorious services and sacrifices made by her during her tenure, helped the Agona West Municipal Assembly to chalk many successes on environmental cleanliness.

He further disclosed that through the instrumentality of Mrs Kumah, Agona West Assembly was adjudged second national best Assembly on sanitation and became first neatest in the Central region.

Nana Esieni expressed optimism that the incoming Ofiicer would follow the example of Mrs Kumah to ensure environmental cleanliness in the Municipality.

Mrs Kumah on her part was grateful to the chiefs, heads of department, the media and her management staff for the unwavering support received during her tenure of office.

The Retiree appealed to staff of Environmental Health and Sanitation Department and the Agona West Municipal Assembly to forgive her in case she stepped on anybody’s toes in line of her duty.

The outgoing Officer described the recent outbreak of cholera in the Municipality as “unfortunate” and stressed that with hard work of the tireless efforts of staff and management team, the disease was contained.

She appealed to the incoming Officer to build upon what she left and try to put in place a good system that would motivate the staff and other development partners to enhance effective environmental cleanliness.

Mr Mac Dzodzodzi, the incoming Environmental Health and Sanitation Officer pledged to work hard and build strong management team to ensure that Agona West Assembly continued to lead as the cleanest Assembly in the country.

He expressed the hope that the Assembly would continue to give the Department the needed assistance to ensure effective sanitation management.
