University students urged to adopt positive attitudes

Kumasi March 10, GNA – Professor Frederick Kwaku Sarfo, the Vice Chancellor of the Akenten Appiah-Menka University for Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED), has asked university students to be discipline and adopt positive attitudes towards life.

He said the future of the country rested on their shoulders and they could not fail, therefore it was important for them to adopt attitudes that would make them useful to themselves, their families, the country as a whole.

Prof. Sarfo made the call at the matriculation of fresh students at the university in Kumasi.

A total of 13,066 students, made up of 11,920 undergraduate and 1,146 post-graduate students, were admitted pursuing various courses at the university.

He said the University was mandated to provide well-thought through skills and entrepreneurial training to help them develop relevant competencies to teach in TVET/ATVET/STEM and entrepreneurial development in various institutions.

The Vice Chancellor said the university was the pathway to ultimate opportunities for their future and they should prepare themselves to receive training that would bring innovations and improvement in their workplace or go into self-employment.

Prof. Sarfo said management would continue to work to expand and improve the existing facilities and construct new ones to help increase enrolment and enhance teaching and learning.

He pointed out that, the university was growing at a fast rate beyond the existing infrastructure and management, together with stakeholders was working to improve infrastructure to meet the growing demand.

Prof. Sarfo advised the students to avoid procrastination, be discipline and do not cheat in examinations.

They should use proper channels of communication to address their grievances, while using the social media responsibly.
