Thieves raid EP Church at Akatsi, abscond with musical instruments and others

Akatsi (VR), March 25, GNA – The Evangelical Presbyterian (EP) Church, Ghana, Akatsi ‘Grace Congregation’ in the Akatsi South Municipality of the Volta Region has been burgled with items worth thousands of cedis taken away.

Musical equipment such as a power amplifier, power mixer, wireless microphone receiver, cordless mics, ‘Yamaha PSR SX 600 keyboard and combo, chairs, and others were stolen.

Reverend Nelson Sefakor Ladzo, the Akatsi District Pastor of the Church, who confirmed the incident to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), disclosed that the leadership of the Church had since lodged a formal complaint at the Akatsi Police Command for intervention.

He narrated that the incident happened between Sunday night to Monday dawn, hours after they fellowshipped on Sunday.

Rev. Ladzo said they were alerted by the Assembly member for the area that some of the Church’s chairs had been abandoned around a cemetery at Anyieheme after which they realised it was a complete theft attack on their auditorium upon arrival at the church premises.

Some members of the Church, the GNA engaged, also revealed that the incident was the second time the same congregation had suffered.

The leadership of the Church is therefore, appealing to members of the public to liaise with the police to bring the culprits to book.

Several Churches within the Akatsi main township, the GNA learnt, have suffered from similar incidents in recent times.

No arrest has since been made yet.
