Ho, March 29, GNA – Mr. Bright Kwame Ege of the School of Graduate Studies of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church University College (EPUC) in Ho Friday stated that success was not measured by accolades or profit margins but by the positive impact on the world.
“Success and knowledge are meaningful only, when they spark positive change,” he said.
Mr. Ege stated this in his Valedictory speech at the 16th graduation ceremony of the University in Ho.
He reminded his colleagues that their responsibilities should go beyond boardrooms to champion moral progress and equitable prosperity.
The Valedictorian called for honest leadership and building of integrity to inspire future generations.
He asked them to be committed to the moral values and community development impacted into them by their training at the University.
Mr. Ege noted that success sprung from character, empathy and resilience, adding “our education has united intellectual rigour with ethical consciousness in us.”
He reminded them to remain humble in triumph and hopeful in challenges and not forget to give back to the communities that shaped them.
He urged them to be prepared to face future obstacles with the tools honed at the University.
Mr. Ege was full of praise for the University for nurturing their aspirations, moulding them into leaders and instilling in them the values for meaningful living.
“Your open door policies, encouragements, dedication to excellence, critique and moral responsibility spurred us to question, analyze and grow,” he said.
Prof. Tsatsu Dogla-Bessa, Acting President of the University, in his report, stated that the severe financial constraints had negatively restricted the operations of the school and appealed to stakeholders to assist lift it from “the financial pit.”
Two hundred and twenty-two students comprising 115 males and 107 females graduated with Bachelor’s Degrees out of which 50 obtained first class, 86 obtained second class upper, 50 obtained second class lower, 31, third class and five obtained passes.
Ten and five students obtained MBAs in Human Resource Management and MBAs in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, respectively.
Sixteen students graduated with certificates, while 12 graduated with Diplomas.
Present were Mr. James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister, Professor Stephen Mitchual, Vice Chancellor of University of Education, Winneba, Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong, Vice Chancellor, University of Cape Coast, the leaderships of the EPCG and EPUC respectively and traditional rulers.
