Nsuta-Jasikan (O/R), March 20, GNA – The Oti Regional Health Directorate has held its 2024 annual performance review meeting at the Diocesan Formation and Counselling Centre in Nsuta-Jasikan.
The meeting, which took place on the theme: “Enhancing Collaboration and Service Delivery through the Network of Practice Approach,” aimed to assess the region’s health performance and identify areas for improvement.
Dr. Osei Kufour Afreh, Oti Regional Director of Health Service, highlighted the region’s achievements and challenges.
He noted that the region had made progress in improving healthcare delivery, with a slight increase in the doctor and nurse population ratio.
However, he also emphasized the need to address challenges such as inadequate infrastructure, encroachment on health facility lands, and shortages of critical health professionals.
The meeting brought together stakeholders, including health partners, district directors, medical superintendents, and health staff.
Dr. Afreh expressed gratitude to health partners, including KOFIH, PATH, UNICEF, and USAID, for their support in improving healthcare delivery in the region.
In the keynote address on behalf of the Oti Regional Minister, Mr. John Kwadwo Gyapong, acknowledged the significance of the two-day meeting.
He commended the regional director, health staff and stakeholders for their commitment to healthcare delivery, despite numerous daunting challenges.
The Minister emphasized the importance of public health and highlighted the need to review the public health system, focusing on resetting and strategizing for improvement.
He reaffirmed the Regional Coordinating Council (ORCC) commitment to addressing health issues in the region.
The Minister assurance underscores the ORCC’s mission to provide good governance and ensure sustainable development, with a focus on equitable distribution of resources to meet the aspirations of the people.
Mr Gyapong encouraged stakeholders to work together to review, reflect and revitalize the health system, ensuring that everyone has access to better healthcare.
