Logre, (U/E), March 12, GNA – As part of activities to mark Ghana’s 68th Independence Anniversary, the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in the Nabdam District has organised a Constitution Quiz Competition for basic school students to deepen their understanding of the 1992 Constitution and civic responsibilities.
The event, held under the NCCE’s 2025 theme, “Ghana’s Future: Our Collective Responsibility,” brought together students from four schools, including Kongo Junior High School (JHS), Kongo Daboorin JHS, Logre JHS and Nabdam Girls Model JHS to compete.
The competition aimed at enhancing the students’ knowledge of democratic governance, instill patriotism and encourage active citizenship.
Mr Joachim Elbazar, the Nabdam District Director of NCCE, in his welcome address, emphasised the importance of civic education in nurturing responsible future leaders.
He noted that the Constitution had created room for civic education as a vital tool for promoting democratic values and increasing citizen participation, especially among students while instilling in them the spirit of patriotism.
Mr Elbazar added that “The overarching objective of this exercise is to deploy quiz as a way to promote learning of the contents of the 1992 Constitution in an entertaining manner among students at the Basic School level for the students of the Civic Education Club and to also inculcate in them good values and good citizenship to increase awareness on their right and obligations”.
Mr Moses Yakah, the Nabdam District Guidance and Counselling Coordinator, Ghana Education Service (GES), who represented the District Director of GES, commended the NCCE for its dedication to civic education in the district.
He encouraged the students to take their studies seriously and familiarize themselves with the 1992 Constitution to become informed citizens.
The quiz, which tested students on various aspects of the Constitution, saw intense competition among the participating schools.
At the end of the contest, Logre JHS emerged victorious with 27 points, followed closely by Kongo Daboorin JHS with 25.5 points. Nabdam Girls Model JHS secured third place with 23.5 points, while Kongo JHS finished fourth with 18.5 points.
