GloMeF urges President Mahama to probe School Feeding Programme

Sunyani, (Bono), March 23, GNA – The Global Media Foundation (GloMeF) has called on President John Dramani Mahama to probe the implementation of the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP).

GloMeF is a Sunyani-based media advocacy Non-Governmental Organisation dedicated to promoting transparency, accountability, and social justice through media and community engagement initiatives.

“Our call follows recent revelations made by Adwoa Safo, the former Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection on the mismanagement and irregularities in the implementation of the GSFP, the foundation stated in press statement.

A copy of the statement signed by Mr Raphael Godlove Ahenu, its founder and Chief Executive Officer and made available to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani, said the GSFP played integral role in enhancing educational outcomes and advancing agriculture.

“However, allegations of financial misappropriations, irregularities in food supply contracts, and inadequate oversight mechanisms have raised concerns about the programme’s integrity and effectiveness,” it stated.

The GSFP remained vital for the health and education of our children and it is therefore imperative that those allegations are thoroughly investigated to ensure that the programme operates transparently and efficiently, and thereby fulfilling its mission.

It implored President Mahama “to take immediate action by commissioning a full-scale investigation into the programme”, believing that “a transparent inquiry is essential to identify any malpractice, holds accountable those responsible, and recommend and implement reforms to restore public confidence in its implementation.

As an organization committed to advocating for social justice and good governance, the GloMeF stands ready to support efforts to enhance the transparency and accountability of the GSFP.

The statement expressed the confidence that “addressing those concerns is essential for safeguarding the well-being of Ghanaian children and ensuring the programme’s long-term successes too.”
