Accra, March 15, GNA – Close to 2500 freshers at the Wisconsin International University College (WIUC) at weekend took their Matriculation Oath, in Accra, and were encouraged to nurture a culture of excellence as they pursued various courses of study.
Dr Paul Kofi Fynn, President, WIUC, urged them to take advantage of the university resources and blaze the trail.
“Engage in internships, workshops and student organisations. By choosing Wisconsin, you have made a decision to be part of an institution renowned for excellence. Our goal is to equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in a dynamic world,” Dr Fynn said.
He further urged them to embrace hard work, discipline and perseverance, see every challenge as an opportunity for growth and uphold the University’s core values of integrity, transparency, accountability, honesty, teamwork, and excellence.
The matriculation, the 21st matriculation ceremony of the University coincided with the University’s Silver Jubilee Anniversary celebration of impactful education, growth, and excellence under the theme: “WIUC-Ghana’s Silver Jubilee: Celebrating 25 Years of Impactful Education.”
The President said matriculation was a significant rite of passage, symbolising both commitment and responsibility and urged them to explore opportunities beyond the classroom.
Dr Fynn said the University abounded with capital resources and together with their dedicated faculties, they ensured a conducive environment for academic excellence.
“Our facilities include a well-stocked library, a radio broadcasting studio, a nursing skills laboratory, advanced IT and AI labs, a law moot court, and a fully equipped music school with a state-of-the-art recording studio where students can practice new skills and ease stress through music,” he said.
Others he mentioned include a state-of-the-art Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics Laboratory, which had been licensed by Ghana’s Cybersecurity Authority and globally acclaimed EC-Council.
He said the facility would not only support the University’s new MSc programs in Cybersecurity, IT, and Business Computing but also offer commercial services to aid in the fight against cyber related crimes.
Dr Fynn lauded the university’s alumni for excelling in Law, Nursing, Economics, Business Managment and Administration, Cybersecurity, and Information Technology.
He said in 2024, over 50 Wisconsin Law graduates were called to the Ghana Bar and with over 120 fresh graduates made it to the Ghana School of Law School.
The students, beaming with pride and clad in freshly pressed attire, gathered with their families and friends, amidst a sea of colorful banners and balloons, matriculate at Wisconsin International University College (WIUC).
They eagerly awaited their ceremonial oath-taking and welcome address as their velvet eyes and soulful gaze depict the arduous journey ahead.
The ceremony saw 1941 students comprising of 418 males and 1523 Females for the Accra Campus with the Kumasi Campus recording 550 students including 124 males and 426 females.
