New Edubiase (Ash), March 21, GNA – The Adansi South District Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has organised a quiz competition on the Constitution for five Junior High Schools (JHS) in the district.
Future Assurance Academy won the keenly contested competition closely followed by St. John the Baptist R/C JHS, Experimental JHS, Hidaayatul Islamia JHS and Methodist JHS in that order.
Each of the 15 contestants walked away with exercise books and pens and their efforts also earned their schools’ certificates.
Mr. Charles Gyimah, the District Director of NCCE, said the competition sought to imbibe in the pupils the interest to study the content of the Constitution to empower them to know their rights and responsibilities as citizens.
He said they would also get to know, understand, and appreciate various articles, clauses and chapters in the Constitution, functions of arms of government and other agencies as enshrined in the Constitution.
“In effect, this exercise will inculcate the sense of patriotism in the pupils, encourage them to hold leaders accountable for their stewardship, promote transparency which will lead to good governance at both local and national levels,” he stated.
Mr. Gyimah commended the contestants for exhibiting strong knowledge of the Constitution and urged them to continue to read and learn always to know the laws of the land.
Mr. Martin Darko Antwi of Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), who moderated the competition, also praised the contestants and encourage them to read the Constitution as often as possible to be familiar with the content.
