2026 WCQ: Partey returns as Otto Addo names 23-man squad for Chad, Madagascar

By Simon Asare

Accra, March 14, GNA -Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey will be in action for the Black Stars when they take on Chad and Madagascar in the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Despite missing out on the previous call-up, Partey was named in Ghana coach Otto Addo’s 23-man squad for the crucial qualifiers as Black Stars seek to get back to winning ways after missing out on 2025 AFCON qualification.

Team captain Jordan Ayew and talisman Kudus Mohammed have also been named in the squad as they would play a crucial role as Ghana targets a six-pointer that could cement their position at the top of Group I.

Also, three home-based players, Benjamin Asare of Accra Hearts of Oak, Kamaradini Mamudu of Medeama SC, and Razak Simpson of Nations FC, have also been named in the squad.

Other notable inclusions are Kamaldeen Sulemana of Southampton FC and Jerry Afriyie of CD Lugo.

Belgium-based Christopher Bonsu Baah has received his maiden call-up to the team following his stellar season for Genk.

The Black Stars would host Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21, 2025, before travelling to Morocco to face Madagascar three days later.
