Ho (V/R), Feb. 13, GNA – The Volta Regional Minister, Mr. James Gunu, has expressed his enthusiasm and full commitment to hosting the Seventh Volta Trade and Investment Fair, marking his first time overseeing the prestigious event as the Regional Minister.

The upcoming fair, which includes the ‘Visit Volta’ programme, is designed to showcase the beauty and investment potential of the region.

It will bring together businesses and investors from Togo, Benin, Nigeria, and other African countries, providing a platform for exploring business opportunities in the Volta Region.

Mr. Gunu made the declaration when he welcomed a delegation from the Volta Fair Secretariat, led by Mr. Dela Gadzanku, Vice Chair of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), along with key private sector stakeholders.

The delegation met with the Minister to congratulate him on his appointment and discuss strategies for positioning Volta Region as Ghana’s most attractive investment destination.

“I was excited to hear about the upcoming Volta Fair and its sister programme, Visit Volta, both happening this year,” Mr. Gunu stated.

The delegation commended the Minister for his swift action in addressing Ho’s recent water crisis, acknowledging his proactive leadership.

They also outlined their vision for the fair, which aligned with the John Dramani Mahama-led administration’s priorities—economic growth, investment promotion, and sustainable development.

Mr. Siddharth Mohi Nupoo, CEO of Spring Agro, whose 1,500-acre rice farm in Adidome is currently the largest in Ghana, emphasised Ghana’s potential to become a major rice exporter. He encouraged collaborative efforts to make the vision a reality.

Minister Gunu assured the delegation of his commitment to economic transformation through strategic partnerships.

He highlighted how the 24-hour economy policy, championed by President John Dramani Mahama, would create a conducive environment for industries like agriculture to thrive, ultimately generating more jobs for people in Volta and beyond.

He outlined  key priorities that would guide his leadership in the region, including ensuring peace and security, strengthening Volta’s stability to maintain its reputation as Ghana’s most peaceful region; building District Assemblies’ Capacity, enhancing local governance structures to reduce reliance on central government and fostering private sector collaboration,  partnering with AGI, ministries, agencies, NGOs, and businesses to create sustainable job opportunities and bring Mahama’s development vision for the Volta Region to life.

With the Minister’s strong backing, the seventh Volta Trade and Investment Fair promises to be a transformational event, solidifying the region’s position as a prime destination for trade, tourism, and investment.
