Sunyani, Bono, Feb. 10, GNA-Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, the National Chief Imam, at the weekend advised Imams to do more and contribute to the development of society.

“We must all work hard and improve the positives, and national development”, he stated, when he officiated the installation of Alhaji Imam Baba Seidu, the Bono Regional Chief Imam in Sunyani.

Alhaji Seidu was appointed as the regional chief Imam following the death of the late Sheikh Alhaji Umar Abdul Kadir Coulibaly, which occurred December 25, 2024.

Describing the late Coulibaly as a true Mumin (believer) who gave his entire life to serve society, Sheikh Sharabutu asked Imams and other Muslim scholars to emulate and serve the nation in humility.

Sheikh Sharabutu also oversaw the installation of the Ustaz Abdul-Mumin Saleh as the Deputy Bono Regional Chief as part of activities lined up for the final funeral rites of the late chief Imam.

It was attended by scores of people and scholars from the Muslim and Christian communities, and many others drawn from Benin, Togo, Burkina Faso, Mali and Cote D’Ivoire.

On his part, Alhaji Seidu expressed gratitude to the Council of Zongo Chiefs, the various Municipal and Districts Imams as well as the elders of the Zongo communities in the region and his immediate family for the confidence reposed in him.

He pledged to strengthen collaboration with all stakeholders, saying that would promote the holistic development of the Zongo communities, the Bono Region and the nation by extension.
