Accra, Feb. 21, GNA – The Greater Accra Zonal stakeholder engagement of Ghana’s Education Forum is underway at the University of Professional Studies, Accra.
The nationwide forum, to end on February 28, 2025, is on the theme: “Transforming Education for a Sustainable Future.”
It is being structured along zonal stakeholder engagement and town hall meetings under five thematic areas.
These are infrastructure; quality education; regulations, accountability and governance; education financing; and research and data.
Participants were grouped into breakout sessions to discuss the thematic areas and make presentations on recommendations to improve education outcomes.
At the opening ceremony, Mrs Linda Ocloo, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, said the forum was an indication of the President’s resolve to reset Ghana in all sectors of the country.
“If the country’s educational goals and objectives were not properly structured, it would negatively affect the nation,” she said.
“It is for this purpose that we are gathered here today to brainstorm and come up with ideas that will help develop a holistic approach to solving our educational needs.”
Mrs Ocloo said the future of the children and the youth hinged on a solid and sustained educational policy, adding that the education system should not just produce speakers of the English Language but also creative minds to solve problems.
“There must be an educational system that should be tailored towards our national needs to help solve our socio-economic problems,” she noted.
The curriculum must involve the teaching of strong ethical values, critical thinking, leadership skills and other skills through a transformational approach.
The country’s education reforms, she said, must cover well-developed infrastructure, human resource development and long-term financial support for the education sector.
She said the Government was committed to using the proposals and recommendations to carve a well-structured and sustained educational path.
