Akatsi (VR), Jan. 24, GNA – Winners Cooperative Credit Union (WINCCU), a financial institution in the Volta Region has presented items and equipment worth thousands of Cedis to two establishments in Akatsi, in the Volta Region.
The items presented include over 100 customised hospital beds, pillowcases, and sets of new HP desktop computers to the Akatsi Senior High Technical School (Akast).
Mr Samuel Oscar Tuagbor, the Chief Executive Officer of WINCCU, in a short address at the Akatsi Municipal Hospital, said the move remained part of their mandate to give back to society in order to solve the pressing needs of people in society.
He explained that their outfit would continue to focus on making life better for all through the Union’s Corporate Social Responsibility drive.
“We need to support our key institutions such as our hospital here for enhanced and quality healthcare delivery,” he said.
Mr Samuel H. K. Avenor, the Board Chairman of the Union, on his part, encouraged all staff and members of the public to inculcate into themselves, the habit of saving.
He said the Union would continue to deliver in all financial aspects and through the various products and services they introduced.
Elder Robert Darrah, a former Board Chairman of the Union, indicated that their visibility and recognition as one of the best Credit Unions in Ghana and the best in Volta remained a standard they would maintain.
“We have a large customer-based data, and we will continue to lead due to our faithfulness and determination.”
“Our Ultra-Modern Head Office complex at Akatsi was financed from the own coffers of the Union and not from any outside place,” he added.
He also urged all to save part of their income with the Union for their financial freedom.
Mr Mawuli Asimenu, the Hospital’s Administrator, in an acceptance speech on behalf of management, commended WINCCU for the kind gesture and promised to put the beds to proper use.
He outlined several items and equipment such as a Patient Monitor, Suction Machine, Patient Trolley, chairs, and others needed by the hospital.
The Union further proceeded to Akast, where two Brand new HP-type computers and their accessories were handed over to the school’s management body in a short ceremony.
Mr Kenneth Adevu, the Headmaster of the School who received the items, expressed gratitude and further called on all students to strive for excellence.
‘Winners Youth Savings Club’ a newly formed group to motivate students to practice saving, was also inaugurated with a six-member executive body during the engagement.
The engagements also provided the platform for individuals to interact with the staff of WINCCU about their products and services.
WINCCU, since its inception, has been providing financial assistance and free development projects across the Region and beyond.
