Hohoe (V/R), Jan. 3, GNA – Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Kofi Blagodzi, Volta North Regional Commander of the Ghana Police Service, has assured residents within the police jurisdiction of continuous service in 2025 and beyond.
He said policing was a shared responsibility between the citizenry and the police; hence, while the police continued to serve them, citizens must be prepared to ensure they played their part too.
DCOP Blagodzi and his team from the Command toured some churches within the Police Region including Hohoe on New Year eve to educate and worship with them.
He said citizens must continue to be security conscious and always be on alert for any unlawful acts and report to the police.
DCOP Blagodzi said the Church had played and continued to play a key role in the sustenance of peace within the Command.
He called on Christians to continue to pray for leaders of the country for development.
Reverend Father Paschal Afesi, Parish Priest, St Augustine Catholic Church, Hohoe, urged the faithful not to worry themselves but fix their eyes on God who was the author of life.
He said there was the need for faithful to surrender themselves to God who had walked them gradually and safely to the end of 2024.
Rev Fr Afesi said faithful must start 2025 and end it with God since it was beautiful to start and end with God.
He called on them to assess how they spent the 2024 which was 365 days and asked themselves how many days were spent with God and their families.
Rev Fr Afesi said throughout the year, there had been mistakes as well as successes and the only ways to live in 2025 were to admit the mistakes made, try not to repeat them, and learn and make amends.
He urged the faithful to enter 2025 with a renewed heart and life which was the only way they would be proud of entering a new year.
Togbe Buami IX, Divisional Chief of Gbi-Bla, urged faithful to let bygones be bygones, unite, and eschew hatred in 2025.
Mr Anthony Godsway Tsra, Chairperson, St Augustine Parish Pastoral Council (PPC), commended the faithful for their tremendous support in 2024.
He said they hoped to continue supporting the Church towards its growth and development in the New Year.
Some principal streets came alive during the wee hours of the New Year with jubilation through the throwing of knockout fireworks.
