Anyako (V/R) Jan 28, GNA – Togbi Tenge Dzokoto Gligui VII, Dufia of Anyako, has held congress for the chiefs and Queen mothers of the area to discuss development projects to change the status of the traditional area and reflect on the lives of individuals.
Togbi Tenge Dzokoto Gligui, also the President and Paramount Chief of the Amugo-Vego Traditional Council in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, said the special congress was also used to deliberate on the plans and promises of President John Mahama during his ‘thank you tour’ starting from the region on Friday, January 24.
“This meeting is very important since we use the opportunity to share ideas and progressive plans and the roles we can also play as chiefs to help president Mahama’s promises to manifest, especially in the area of agriculture,” he said.
He said the Amugo-Vego Traditional Council would collaborate with Afife, Weta, and Aveyime-Bator traditional areas and other rice farming areas to revamp rice production in large quantity and give it a new facelift for more economic gain.
Togbi Gligui said the traditional area would also prioritise oil palm plantation projects in the Anyako Community and beyond to boost agriculture productivity, which would provide jobs for the youth and others.
“We will work in collaboration with the Ohawu Agricultural College for ideas and seek better plans that would help us achieve the targeted goals of improving agriculture in the area,” he said.
He mentioned inadequate water supply in the communities which needed to be resolved permanently for the people to leverage on the potentials of the area.
Togbi Gligui said roads such as Afife-Aborlorve Nolopi-Anyako, Aborlorve-Nolopi to link Sasieme through to Tsiame and Abor-Tsiame-Atiavi roads among others would be prioritised.
He urged residents in the various communities to support the chiefs for the ideas to be developed to improve agricultural productivity in the traditional areas.
Some chief who attended the congress included Togbi Agbetsi Zewu IV, Togbi Attipoe V of Anyako, and Togbi Kposegee IV of Anyako,Togbi Doe Atieku II of Asadame, Togbi Akakpo Solaga II of Anyako,Togbi Aposa VI, Togbi Awushie Okpattah IV, Togbi Gbanaglo Asafo III of Abor, Mama Nutsufe II, and Mama Kokui Deakor I of Asadame.
