Sunyani, (Bono), Jan. 24, GNA – The Bono Regional office of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has organised stakeholders meeting to deliberate on ways to improve utility service provisions in 2025.
It was attended by representatives from the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo), the Ghana Water Limited (GWL) and other relevant public and private institutions and stakeholders.
Addressing the meeting, held in Sunyani, Mr Patrick Antwi, the Bono and Ahafo Regional Manager of the PURC highlighted the need for effective collaboration between the service providers to enhance service delivery.
He also reflected on the PURC’s theme for 2025, “the year of strategic positioning”, saying the theme guided the region in developing its quarterly activities for the year.
Mr Antwi explained that first quarter activities focus on “regulatory relevance” where the office would intensify public education on the commission’s relevance in the region.
The second quarter activities will also center on “enhancing education on issues on billing and metering” while the third quarter will be dedicated to “water quarter” focusing on raising awareness about water-related issues in the region.
Mr Antwi explained that the fourth quarter activities also “target myths and facts on water and electricity,” saying the activity aimed at dispelling water and electricity misconceptions in the region.
Mr Collins Theophilus, the Bono, Bono East, and Ahafo Regional Chief Manager of the GWL assured that his outfit would continue with the PURC in the execution of the commission activities in the region.
That would also help improve revenue mobilization, customer service delivery and thereby fostering stronger relationships between service providers and customers.
Mr Eugene Odoi Addo, the Sunyani Area Manager of NEDCo, lauded the meeting, saying the NEDCo would also capitalise on the outcomes to enhance its services too, saying NEDCo intended to establish centers to help receive and tackle customer concerns.
The zones would be set up at Nsoatre, Chiraa, Odumase and Yamfo.
