Ministers Vetting: Oti Regional minister-designate outlines priority projects to champion

Accra, Jan.23, GNA – Mr John Kwadwo Sarpong, the Minister-designate for Oti Region, says the construction of a bridge over Oti River between Dambai and Krachi would improve the transportation of goods and services and spur local economy of the Region.

He pledged to work collaboratively with the Roads minister Kwame Agbodza to improve road infrastructure in the Region.

Speaking during his vetting by the Appointments Committee of Parliament on Thursday, Mr Gyapong said, he would work to attract investors to the Region to establish cocoa, ginger, yam and cassava processing factories to create jobs for the youth.

He also pledged to work with other sector ministers to improve infrastructure in the areas of education, health, and other economic-based ventures.

The minister also pledged to build the capacity of the youth in various apprenticeship programmes to make them self-sustainable.

Asked how he would improve revenue collection drive among the Assemblies, Mr Gyapong indicated that he would work closely with the Assemblies to sensitise the residents on the need to pay their property rates, fees and levies to help develop the Region.

On conflict resolution, the nominee said he would set up a Conflict Resolution Committee, comprising prominent individuals and stakeholders to adjudicate nagging conflicts in the area.
