Avenorpeme (V/R), June 23, GNA – The Amegavieso Stool has launched a five-year “Greening Avenor Project” with the distribution of over 1,000 tree seedlings to schools and traditional leaders in the Avenor Traditional Area.
The launch, held at Avenorpeme would be a five-year project aimed at expanding tree planting and promoting environmental awareness across the area.
Speaking at the event, Torgbui Amegavieso VI, the Right Wing Chief of Avenor and his Queen Mother, Mama Yibor Amegavieso II reaffirmed their commitment to environmental sustainability and community development.
Torgbui Amevavieso further announced plans to embark on cashew cultivation and bee-keeping projects in selected communities within Avenor, which is expected to begin next year.
The Traditional ruler said the additional projects would create employment opportunities for the youth and support local economic development.
They called on stakeholders to support the initiative and ensure proper care of the seedlings.
The seedlings included Royal Palm, Mahogany, Umbrella Tree, Ofram, Cinderella and Acacia species.
Avenorpeme Technical Institute and Avenor Senior High School have since benefited from the first phase of the initiative.
Some Right Wing chiefs and queen mothers from Avenor also received the seedlings during the exercise.
