Kumasi, Jan 28, GNA – The Ghana National Association of Private Vocational and Technical Institutions (GNAPVTI) has expressed optimism that President John Dramani Mahama’s leadership would bring significant positive changes to the country, particularly in the areas of technical and vocational education and training.

The Association has therefore, assured the President of members unwavering commitment towards his vision towards Technical and Vocational Education and Training in Ghana.

Mrs Aretha Ama Graham Addai, National President, GNAPVTI, speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Kumasi, said the Association’s member institutions provided formal, informal, and non-formal skill training in various trade areas, leading to the National TVET Qualifications Framework certification.

With these specialised qualifications and training, she noted, a little push from the government could help render quality services to the numerous clients they encountered.

Mrs Addai, who particularly congratulated President Mahama and Mr Haruna Iddrisu, Minister of Education, believed their calls would ensure paradigm shift in the educational sector considering the past experiences in diverse fields.

“For Mr Haruna Iddrisu, this appointment marks a significant milestone for Ghana’s education sector, and we are confident his exceptional leadership skills will drive positive change in the area of TVET.

As a seasoned politician and former Minister of Labour and Employment, Mr Iddrisu brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role.

His impressive track record, including his tenure as President of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS), underscores his ability to lead with excellence, vision, and purpose,” she indicated.

She said the GNAPVTI was confident that the new Education Minister’s leadership would usher in a transformative, technology-driven education system that prepared students for a rapidly evolving global economy.

Mrs Addai told the GNA that, as an Association, members were ready to collaborate with the Ministry, especially in the area of apprenticeship training to achieve shared objectives that benefited all learners in Ghana.

The Ghana National Association of Private Vocational and Technical Institutions comprises all private TVET institutions in Ghana with over 300 members whose institutions are located in all the 16 regions.

The Association is a key TVET stakeholder that the Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET) legally recognises as Training Providers for the implementation of TVET in Ghana as per the Pre-Tertiary Education Act 2020 (Act 1049) and Education Regulatory Bodies Act 2020 (Act 1023).
