Nkawie (Ash), Jan. 20, GNA – Mr. Derrick Owusu Boateng, an aspirant of the MCE position for Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality of the Ashanti region, has identified four priority areas of his administration if he gets the post.
Mr Boateng, who was the 2020 Parliamentary Candidate (PC) for NDC in the Atwima Nwabiagya South constituency, said sanitation, job creation, road construction and revenue mobilization would be his focus when given the nod.
He was addressing some NDC youth, who undertook a three-hour clean-up exercise, organized by the Nkawie traditional council at Nkawie.
The monthly exercise, which is supported by the Municipal Assembly, the Ghana National Fire Service and other social groups, was aimed at ensuring environmental cleanliness in the town.
Mr Boateng, who was also the 2024 Director of Elections for the party in the constituency, said, sanitation was health, which brought wealth and there was the need to prioritize sanitation to promote good health.
He pledged to liaise with the existing businesses and new ones to be created to provide employment for the youth in the area to get income and improve on their livelihoods through the 24-hour economy.
He mentioned tax incentives, transparency and accountability for traders to maximize profit making, and thereby enable them to pay their taxes promptly to help increase revenue from internally generated sources of the Assembly to speed up infrastructure development projects.
“Infrastructure, especially roads, will be part of my priorities to ease transportation of farm products to market centres, protect patients and pregnant women who will be attending hospitals,” he added.
Mr. Boateng called for unity and support for the government to implement its policies, especially campaign and manifesto promises for the benefit of the people.
Oheneba Kwame Akoto, Nkawiehene, commended the youth for their commitment to the clean-up and urged other social groups and institutions to get involved to prevent the outbreak of cholera or any epidemic in the town.
