Asante-Akim South: 2024 NDC parliamentary candidate supports apprentices

By Yussif Ibrahim

Juaso (Ash), Jan. 2, GNA – Despite losing her bid to represent the people of Asante-Akim South in the 2024 parliamentary elections on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Maame Sarfoah Appiah, has demonstrated her commitment to serving the people even after the election.

The Former Parliamentary Candidate has distributed 80 sewing machines and 70 hair dryers to selected apprentices, some of whom have graduated and set to begin their own businesses.

The beneficiaries, according to her, were selected from communities across the constituency on merit and devoid of partisanship.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) after the presentation at Juaso, Maame Safoah Appiah insisted that her commitment to pursue the development agenda of the constituency remained unchanged even though she lost the election.

She said her passion for the development of the constituency was intrinsic and not tied to winning an election, and expressed her determination to push for interventions that would improve livelihoods in the constituency.

This, she noted, would continue to be her focus in the next four years under the development-oriented NDC government.

“I promised to lobby for a tertiary institution and Islamic Senior High School in Asante-Akim South as part of my campaign promises and I want to keep my promise now that the NDC is in power,” she assured the people.

Empowering young people to engage in productive ventures so they can contribute to the local economy also remains her priority.

“That is why I am distributing the equipment, which I believe will make the beneficiaries economically independent, while reducing social vices they could engage in for lack of jobs,” she noted.

She entreated them to put the equipment to good use as they start their entrepreneurial journey.

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke to the GNA expressed their profound gratitude to Maame Sarfoah for her timely intervention and pledged to make her proud.
