Accra, Jan. 18, GNA – In a night that echoed with the rhythms of Ghana at the Blackberry Lounge in Tema Community 17 (Lashibi), the sensational Adaha Band delivered an unforgettable tribute to Teddy Osei, the founder of Osibisa.

With a mixture of nostalgia, vibrance, and pure talent, the event became a celebration of both past and present, reminding patrons of the power of live band music.

The evening began with an entrance that was nothing short of dramatic.

The air was filled with the rich sound of trumpets, announcing the band’s arrival while Ghanaian flags waved proudly in tribute to the legendary Osibisa, which footprints are on every famous stage worldwide.

As the atmosphere heated up, the Adaha Band launched into Osibisa’s iconic track, “We Are Going, Heaven Knows Where We Are Going.”

The powerful anthem, steeped in both hope, uncertainty and divine providence, captured the hearts and minds of patrons.

The surreal energy of the music seemed to transport the audience to a different era — one filled with cultural pride, unity, and the ever-present influence of Osibisa.

As the familiar chords rang through the venue, patrons began to sing along, their voices rising in a harmonious chorus.

It was a moment that felt almost sacred — an intimate connection between the crowd, the music, and the memory of the musical pioneers who paved the way for the modern sounds of Ghana on the international stage.

The Adaha Band’s rendition was not just a performance; it was a celebration of Osibisa’s legacy and an act of reverence for the pioneering role the band played in shaping the live band scene.

In an emotional gesture, the band observed a minute silence to Osibisa.

The Blackberry Lounge fell into a reflective silence as members of the Adaha Band stood in solidarity with the late Teddy Osei, the man who helped introduce African music to the world stage in the 1970s.

“Osibisa has been a major influence on 60% of our musical journey,” said one of the band members in a heartfelt speech.

“It’s only fitting that we pay tribute to them today, as they’ve inspired countless generations of musicians and music lovers.”

Blackberry Lounge, known for hosting some of the best live band performances in the country, has once again proven its status as a premier venue for live music lovers.

The lounge has made a name for itself by creating an ambiance that is both intimate and electric, attracting music lovers from all walks of life.

The venue was packed with excited patrons, all eager to experience a night that fused the old and the new, Ghanaian and Nigerian rhythms, in a seamless and captivating performance.

As the night wore on, Adaha Band shifted gears, weaving in contemporary Ghanaian and Nigerian hits, with a blend of classic live band instrumentation that had the crowd on their feet.

The energetic mix of Afrobeat, highlife, and dancehall kept everyone grooving well into the night.

The band’s ability to navigate between genres with such finesse had the audience dancing, clapping, and cheering.

The eclectic mix of songs drew in people from every corner of the lounge – young and old — creating a sense of unity through music.

Meanwhile, servers at Blackberry Lounge added to the ambiance with their stylish, contemporary outfits.

Their efficient service and easy smiles were matched by their eye-catching attire, which included thigh-high dresses and daring necklines that turned heads.

The food and drinks on offer were just as impressive: tantalizing barbecue, flavourful Ghanaian dishes, and an array of cocktails and drinks that perfectly complemented the lively atmosphere.

Among the crowd was Mr. Frank Teagan, a first-timer at Blackberry Lounge. The fun-loving patron was full of praise for the event.

“This is hands down the best live band I’ve ever seen,” he remarked, his eyes still wide from the excitement. “I’ve been to several live band performances, but the energy here is on another level. The music, the vibe — it’s just phenomenal.”

Another patron, who preferred to remain anonymous, commended the owners of Blackberry Lounge for consistently delivering top-notch events.

“Every time I come here, it’s a different experience. They know how to put on a show, and the live band music is always outstanding. You can tell they care about their patrons and the quality of their events.”

As the night drew to a close, patrons slowly filed out of Blackberry Lounge, still humming the tunes of Osibisa and Adoha Band.

The event was a triumph on all fronts — a fitting tribute to the legacy of Teddy Osei, a showcase of modern Ghanaian talent, and an affirmation of the enduring power of live music.

With their blend of nostalgia and contemporary flair, Adaha Band had successfully captured the essence of Ghana’s musical soul.

That, Kobbina Botwey, a saxophonist and member of the band, said the late Teddy Osei inspired what they do as he had pushed Ghanaian music globally.

“Teddy Osei went far with our music. Osibisa took Ghana globally and that alone is inspiring,” he stated.

The performance tradition of Osibisa, he said, had shaped their live band performances, too.

The legacy of Osibisa, it seems, is alive and well, continuing to inspire musicians and music lovers alike for generations to come.
