Accra, Dec. 7, GNA – Voting in the Anyaa-Sowutuom constituency began smoothly with no technical issues reported at the polling stations.

By 0800 hours, the Ghana News Agency had visited about 11 polling stations across the Agape, Anyaa-NIC, Fanmilk, and Chantan areas.

Election materials were delivered on time, and long queues were observed at the stations before voting started at 07:00 hours.

Electoral officers and party representatives were present at the stations to ensure proper sorting of materials while voters queued.

Each station had at least two police officers to maintain order, particularly among the long lines of voters.

Mr. Prince Kissi, the presiding officer at the Rock Video Centre B, assured the GNA that all election materials, including BVD machines, were functioning correctly.

“The process has been smooth so far with no difficulties at all.

“The verification machine is working perfectly, and with 419 expected voters in my polling station, 30 voters have been able to cast their votes as of 8:00 hours,” he said. This year’s parliamentary election in Anyaa-Sowutuom will see a contest between the NPP’s Elder Tobbin and the NDC’s Emmanuel Adotey Allotey.

With a voter population exceeding 140,000, Anyaa-Sowutuom is one of the largest constituencies in the Greater Accra Region.

Located in the Ga Central Municipality, the constituency is made up of 54 communities, 13 electoral areas, and 295 polling stations.

Anyaa-Sowutuom was carved out of the Weija-Gbawe Constituency in 2012 and has been a stronghold for the NPP in both parliamentary and presidential elections.
