Tema, Dec. 07, GNA – Ms Belinda Mensah, a Presiding Officer in charge of Community Five, Number Three Primary Two Polling Station, Tema West, has appealed to voters to come out and vote instead of waiting for the eleventh hour to rush in.
Speaking with the Ghana News Agency, at the centre, Ms Mensah stressed the importance of early voting to ensure a smooth electoral process and uphold the integrity of the exercise.
She said the tendency of voters waiting until the final hours placed undue stress on electoral officers, stating that out of a total of 683 voters expected to vote, only 83 had voted as of 09:40 hours.
Some four young voters, of whom three were first-time voters, told the GNA that even though they were at the polling station, they would wait till about 16:00 hours before casting their vote.
They claimed they want to give the elderly people the chance to vote quickly and go back home and rest.
Mr Jayson Arthur, a first-time voter, said, “These early hours are for the elderly people so they can go back to work or home to do what they have to do; we are young and have the strength to wait.”
Speaking to some voters present at the polling station, many echoed the presiding member’s sentiment, noting that arriving early ensured a quicker and more convenient experience.
