Ongoing Recruitments Have Statutory Approvals, Not Illegal – Government’s Transition Team

Accra, Dec. 14, GNA – The Government’s Transition Team has refuted allegations of irregularities in ongoing recruitments and payments, emphasizing that these processes are backed by statutory approvals.

The clarification follows concerns raised by President-elect John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Transition Team over what they described as last-minute government actions.

The NDC Transition Team, in a statement issued last Friday, claimed that an agreement had been reached by the joint transition teams that “all ongoing significant payments, recruitments, and other such activities must be submitted to the Transition Team for consideration on a case-by-case basis.”

However, in a counter-statement signed by Madam Fatimatu Abubakar, the spokesperson for the Government’s Transition Team, the claims were dismissed as inaccurate. She explained that all ongoing recruitment and payment processes had adhered to legal requirements and were duly approved.

“Any specific allegation of illegality regarding any particular payment or recruitment should be brought to the attention of the Transition Team for a decision to be made,” the statement read.

Madam Abubakar further urged the public to disregard reports suggesting that the committee had agreed to halt all ongoing payments and recruitments, labelling such reports as false.

Reiterating the outgoing administration’s commitment to a smooth handover, she assured that preparations were in place to ensure a seamless transition to the incoming government on January 7, 2025.

“We remain committed to passing the baton to the incoming government on January 7, 2025.
