Iran releases singer Parastoo held for infringing dress code

Tehran, Dec 15, (dpa/GNA) – Iranian authorities have released singer Parastoo Ahmadi, who had been held for performing without a hijab, her lawyer told the Sharhg daily on Sunday.

Two of her band members were also released. Milad Panahipour said he had not yet been in contact with Ahmadi, who was now awaiting official charges.

The three were detained on Saturday, before being released overnight, according to the lawyer.

Ahmadi broke a number of rules: she sang without a headscarf, wore a dress that left her shoulders uncovered and published her concert on YouTube.
