Accra, Dec 13, GNA – The Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) has announced the suspension of the re-collation of presidential and parliamentary results for some constituencies, which was ongoing at the Police Training Depot in Tesano, Accra, until further notice.
In a statement issued Friday, signed by Deputy Chairman in charge of Operations, Samuel Tettey, the EC explained that the decision to re-collate the results was due to irregularities in the collation process, “…for constituencies whose collation did not follow the legal process as enshrined in C.I. 127.”
Additionally, the EC noted that results in some constituencies could not be declared because of disruptions by political party supporters on Election Day and after.
The statement, noted that all political parties had been informed of the relocation to the Tesano Police Training Depot.
“Indeed, all the agents of the political parties observed the process yesterday, which resulted in the collation and declaration of results for the Fanteakwa North, Akwatia, and Suhum constituencies,” the EC added.
The Commission called on all stakeholders to cooperate with it to ensure the successful discharge of its mandate.
