Accra, Dec. 7, GNA – Elder Emmanuel Tobbin, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Candidate for the Anyaa-Sowutuom Constituency, is not only optimistic of winning, but also increasing the victory margin.
Anyaa-Sowutuom constituency, with a voter population of slightly more than 140,000, is one of the largest in the Greater Accra Region.
Dr. Dickson Adomako Kissi, the outgoing Member of Parliament for Anyaa Sowutuom, won the seat for the NPP in 2020 with 64,301 votes, or 65.2 percent, while National Democratic Congress candidate Emmanuel Allotey Adotey had 34,315 votes, or 34.8 percent.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency after casting his ballot at the Anyaa Market,
Elder Tobbin, who is the CEO of Ascot Pharmacy, said he was optimistic about victory and wanted the gap to widen.
“I am very, very confident of winning. In fact, I have won already, but this time round I want the margin of victory to be wider.
“I have monitored the polls in my constituency, and so far, everything is going smoothly except for BVD not working properly, but I know the EC is solving it,” he said.
Elder Tobbin is facing a tough challenge against Mr Adotey Allotey who is running for the second time and has campaigned massively in the constituency.
The Anyaa-Sowutuom Constituency in the Ga Central Municipality has 54 communities and 13 electoral areas and 295 polling stations.
Carved out of the Weija-Gbawe Constituency in 2012, Anyaa-Sowutuom has been won by the NPP in both the parliamentary and presidential elections in 2012, 2016 and 2020.
