Sekondi Nov. 11, GNA – The Sekondi High Court, presided over by Justice George Gyan- Konto, has granted a motion to vacate the interlocutory injunction against Mrs Joan Gyan Cudjoe the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary candidate for Amenfi Central in the Western Region.

Granting the motion would therefore include Mrs Cudjoe’s name and picture on the ballot paper for Amenfi central constituency and she is cleared to contest the upcoming polls.

The Electoral Commission disqualified the candidate following a petition to the EC claiming there was a pending order of interlocutory injunction restraining the Commission from recognising Mrs Cudjoe as the parliamentary candidate of the party.

Mr Edudzie kudzo Tamakloe, the first defendant’s lawyer said, “now that the injunction has been lifted, the EC should do the needful and include Mrs Joana Gyan Cudjoe’s name and picture to the notice of poll.”

“We would like to extend our gratitude to the court for its decision. We appreciate the EC’s representative presence in court as they are now aware that the injunction has been vacated.”

“The reason for Mrs Cudjoe’s disqualification was the injunction order, which is no longer valid, we urge Madam Jean Mensa, the EC chairperson to take the necessary steps to ensure Mr Mrs Cudjoe’s eligibility is reinstated, upholding the principles of fairness and transparency.”

Mrs Cudjoe expressed her gratitude after the ruling saying,” We thank God for everything that has happened today, especially my new lawyers who came in to recue me, I thank God and all the NDC Members, executives and all the Western Region NDC. I must say I am very happy”

She urged her supporters to remain calm and continue their campaign efforts despite the recent challenges,” we are now focused on moving forward with our campaign launch and the electoral process.”
