Michel Camp, Nov. 25, GNA – Community leaders of Sebrepor in the Kpone-Katamanso municipality, led by the Assembly Member, and the First Battalion of Infantry Command at Michel Camp, have held a strategic security meeting to discuss tightening security surveillance ahead of the yuletide.

Lieutenant Colonel Frank Adams, Commanding Officer, First Battalion of Infantry, assured residents of Sebrepor of the military’s commitment to supporting community security efforts during the upcoming festive season.

Lt. Col. Adams hinted that the military would ensure peace in Sebrepor and adjoining communities during the election period and beyond, saying any act of violence would be met with the appropriate action to restore peace and order.

He further emphasised the importance of collaboration between the military and the local community to combat potential security threats during the period, urging community members to report suspicious activities promptly, assuring them of the army’s readiness to deploy patrol teams to complement police efforts within the communities.

“Our goal is to maintain peace and order, especially during the festive season when criminal activities often rise. We are counting on your vigilance as opinion leaders to help us achieve this,” he said.

Mr. Morris Kufoalor Assembly Member for Sebrepor Electoral Area, expressed gratitude to the Commanding Officer and his team for their proactive engagement with the community.

He outlined some of the security concerns raised by residents, which include theft and occasional disturbances in the area, and appealed for increased visibility of security personnel.

“We cannot overemphasise the need for security during this season. As leaders, we are committed to working closely with the military, police, and other stakeholders to ensure that Sebrepor remains peaceful for all,” Mr. Kufoalor noted.

Opinion leaders at the meeting called for the establishment of neighbourhood watch committees to complement the efforts of the military and police, which the assembly members pledged to facilitate their creation and provide logistical support where necessary.

He added that he would intensify education on personal security among residents as well as organise periodic community-military engagements to sustain cooperation.
