Bimbilla (N/R), Nov. 20, GNA – The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has held a Parliamentary Candidates’ Dialogue for candidates at the Bimbila Constituency of the Northern Region.
It was to provide a platform for the Parliamentary Candidates to share their political parties’ vision for the constituency, ensure tolerance and peace before, during and after the elections and to solicit their commitment to non-violence and issues-based campaigns.
It was attended by the Security Services, Political Parties, Assembly Members, Heads of institution, people from various electoral areas, Ghana Education Service, Electoral Commission,
Nanumba North Youth Parliament, GPRTU, Ghana National Tailors and Dressmakers Association amongst others.
The candidates, who honoured the invitation, were Mr Kamil Bamapong, an Independent Candidate, Mr Atta Napari Suale of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), and Dr Joseph Kwabena Manboah Rockson of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
They shared their vision and policies engaging with constituents on matters of concern to them.
Mr Kamil Bamapong, an Independent Parliamentary Candidate, pledged to establish ICT laboratories for all Junior High Schools in the municipality, improve hospital infrastructure, and seek market linkages for local farmers to sell their yam and other farm produce at good prices.
Mr Atta Napari Suale, Parliamentary Candidate for PPP, said he would organise voluntary extra classes for students at the basic level, special support for persons living with disabilities and identify and create linkages between students and people from the area, who resided abroad, for scholarships and sponsorships.
Dr Joseph Kwabena Manboah Rockson, Parliamentary Candidate for the NDC also promised to eliminate schools under trees, upgrade the district hospital, revamp the mortuary, and establish vocational training institute to train the youth.
Alhaji Aljuyu Mohammed, Northern Regional Director of NCCE, urged the candidates to show patriotism, political and religious tolerance in their campaigns for the polls.
Participants emphasised the need for effective collaboration between civil society groups, the Electoral Commission, and constituents to ensure peaceful elections.
