Dzodze (V/R), Nov 12, GNA – The Paramount Chief and President of the Dzodze Traditional Council, Torgbui Dzoku V, has called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akufo Dampare, to assign additional police personnel to the Ketu Divisional Command.
He said increasing the number of officers would enhance security and ensure lasting peace within the Division and the Dzodze community at large.
Torgbui Dzoku made the appeal during a send-off ceremony organized by the Traditional Council in honour of Superintendent Eric Vondee, the outgoing Acting District Commander of Dzodze, at the Dzodze Police Station on Sunday.
The Paramount Chief also appealed for an additional police vehicle to boost the operational capacity of the District Command.
“Assigning more personnel and providing an extra vehicle will greatly improve the efficiency of the division and strengthen our collective efforts in maintaining law and order,” he stated.
Torgbui Dzoku commended Supt. Vondee and Chief Supt. Samuel Kofi Odame for their dedication and hard work, which helped restore peace and security in Dzodze.
He highlighted the key role in the peaceful inauguration of the Dzodze Traditional Council, the coronation of Mama Agbalogui II as Paramount Queenmother, and the successful celebration of the 2024 Dzodze DeZa Festival.
“Under Supt. Vondee’s leadership, crime rates in Dzodze saw a significant decline, including the apprehension and conviction of three armed robbers, each sentenced to 30 years in prison.”
Torgbui Dzoku praised these efforts, emphasizing the Traditional Council’s commitment to supporting the Ghana Police Service.
“As a community, we stand ready to assist the Police Service in fulfilling their duties with integrity,” he noted, revealing plans to provide better accommodation for police officers in Dzodze.
“We are actively engaging with donor partners, NGOs, and philanthropists to develop modern housing units for our police personnel, ensuring their welfare and enhancing their operational effectiveness,” he said.
Supt. Vondee expressed his deep appreciation to the Dzodze Traditional Council and his colleagues for their support during his tenure.
“I am humbled by this recognition. It has been a privilege to serve the people of Dzodze, and I am encouraged to continue working hard wherever I am posted,” he remarked. “Your trust and support mean everything to me, and I am committed to contributing positively to any community I serve.”
The newly appointed District Commander, Supt. Eric Van Kofi, also expressed his gratitude to the Traditional Council for organizing the ceremony. He acknowledged the high expectations and pledged to build on the achievements of his predecessor.
“This event challenges me to strive for even better results as I take on the responsibility of leading the District Command,” he affirmed.
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of a citation to Supt. Vondee by Torgbui Dzoku V, recognizing his exceptional service and dedication.
Supt. Vondee acknowledged the support of prominent individuals within Dzodze and its neighbouring communities, which contributed to his successful tenure.
The colorful event was attended by members of the Ketu Divisional Command, friends, family, chiefs, queen mothers, elders, and residents of Dzodze and its environs, creating an atmosphere of unity and celebration.
