GhIPSS Prioritizes Employee Fitness and Health with Corporate Gym Initiative  

Accra, Oct. 3, GNA-The Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement Systems Ltd. (GhIPSS) is taking significant steps to improve the overall well-being and productivity of its staff by constructing a corporate gym within its new office complex.   

The facility is expected to enhance physical fitness and mental alertness, both of which are critical to employee productivity and performance.  

As the national payment infrastructure provider, GhIPSS recognizes the importance of creating a conducive environment for staff.   

The new gym, set to be commissioned on October 11, a day after World Mental Health Day, will be part of broader initiatives aimed at improving employee health.   

In addition to the gym, the company will also unveil an infirmary to cater to employees’ health needs.  

A talk on mental health will accompany the gym’s launch, highlighting its relevance and providing staff with tips on maintaining mental wellness and identifying early warning signs of mental health issues.   

This holistic approach aligns with research showing that corporate wellness programmes, particularly fitness facilities, can lead to improved employee health, reduced absenteeism, and increased job satisfaction.  

Ebow Allen-Kuofie, Head of Human Resources at GhIPSS, in an interview, touched on the positive impact corporate gyms can have on staff well-being, motivation, and productivity.   

He pointed to studies showing that companies with fitness facilities report a 14-20% improvement in employee productivity, as well as higher retention rates and reduced healthcare costs.   

He added that GhIPSS remained committed to continually improving the work environment by introducing modern facilities that support the overall well-being of its employees.  

Archie Hesse, CEO of GhIPSS, noted that as a leader in the innovation-driven payment systems industry, the company was constantly seeking ways to enhance productivity.   

“Creating a gym, infirmary, and other employee-centric facilities aligns with modern human resource practices. We will monitor the effects of these initiatives and adjust as necessary to maximize their benefits,” Mr. Hesse said.  

Corporate wellness programmes have been shown to deliver substantial returns on investment. A study by the Harvard Business Review found that for every $1 invested in employee wellness, companies see an average return of $2.71 due to lower absenteeism, higher employee satisfaction, and improved performance.
