Accra, Jan 30, GNA – The Ghana Navy’s male handball team, showed their mettle at 2022 National Handball league when they emerged the overall winners and placed second in the Champion of Champions competition.
At the end of the games, Petty Officer Class One Offei Daniel was adjudged the best centre-back. He also emerged as the country’s most valuable player.
The team paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Rear Admiral Issah Adam Yakubu at the Naval Headquarters in Burma Camp on Thursday, 26th January 2023, to present the trophies and medals they won.
The CNS congratulated the team for their outstanding performance at the League.
The CNS applauded the team for making the Ghana Armed Forces, particularly the Navy proud. He commended them for their immeasurable dedication and commitment and admonished them not to “rest on their oars, but rather use the achievements as a spring board to even work harder”.
He challenged the other Navy sports teams to emulate the achievements of the Handball and Tennis teams in order to perform better in the coming leagues.
In a related development, Able Seaman Class One Nti Emmanuel placed second in the National Tennis Tournaments held in Ghana, and also in the International Tennis Tournaments held in Togo.
The CNS presented tokens of appreciation to the team and assured them of his continuous support to enable them perform even better in subsequent tournaments.
