Shama (WR), Aug. 11, GNA-Sixty-eight persons with disabilities have received government assistance through the Shama District Assembly in the Western Region.
The assistance included cash, Deep freezers, metal containers, educational support, wheelchairs, industrial sewing machines, payment of medical bills, fufu machines and carpentry tools.
The support was in fulfilment of government’s continuous support in enriching the lives of people with one physical challenge or the other to make a meaning out of their lives.
Mr. Ebenezer Dadzie, the District Chief Executive, presenting the items to the beneficiaries, pledged that the Assembly would continue to provide such needs on a timely basis to make life more comfortable for them.
He also charged the Social Welfare Department and the Assembly members to put in place monitoring and evaluation structures to keep the government vision alive.
Mrs. Bernice Danso, the Officer of the Department of Social Welfare advised the beneficiaries to value such social intervention strategies and use them well to enhance life and living conditions.
The beneficiaries were grateful to the government and the assembly for solving their needs and in turn promised to put the items into good use.
