Hweehwee (E/R), May 16, GNA- The Kwahuman Association of Massachusetts under the leadership of Dr Janet Koranteng Asare, the President have constructed and handed over an ultra-modern Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) centre to the Hweehwee community, a community in the Kwahu East District of the Eastern Region.

The project at the cost of USD51, 000 was to improve the teaching and learning of ICT in the area since students lacked the practical aspect of the subject.

Speaking during the handing over ceremony, Dr Koranteng Asare said it had been the association’s objective to give back to society, hence the gesture.

She said the community lacked access to quality education delivery adding that they were ready to provide all necessary educational materials to improve the living standards of the students and to ease the stress on the teachers.

She said the group had supported a lot of public schools in the community by providing them with books, school bags, shoes, uniforms and other educational materials.

She said it had been the association’s priority to improve the living standards of inhabitants of Kwahu and had plans of providing the necessary facilities such as providing to promote development.

Dr Koranteng Asare, therefore, advised community members to take good care of the facility to last for generations.

Receiving the keys on behalf of the Hweehwee community, Nana Safoa Agyapomaa II, the Queen Mother thanked the association for providing such an edifice for public schools in the area and promised to put it to good use.

She entreated the students and teachers to take their teaching and learning of ICT seriously since the world was advancing in technology with the use of ICT and said they have plans of connecting the centre with the internet.

The programme was graced by dignitaries such as Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II, the Kwahuman Hene, Obrempong Fredrick Anson- Dwamena, the National President of Okwahu United in North America, Mr Solomon Aboagye, the Assembly Member for the Hweehwee Electoral Area and Executive Members of Kwahuman in Massachusetts.
