Adeiso (E/R), Dec 16, GNA – Mr Frederick Adom Obeng, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Upper West Akim, has honoured hard working teachers and non-teaching staff of the pper West Akim District for their contribution to improved academic performance in the area.
The awardees are largely Adeiso Presbyterian Senior High School subject teachers in Mathematics, English Language, Science, and Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
Mr Obeng, also the Deputy Minister of Transport, who initiated the award scheme, commended the teachers for the hard work.
They each received a 32-inch NASCO Digital Television set.
Mr Francis Anim Tetteh of the Adeiso Presbyterian SHS was adjudged the Overall Best Teacher and received a motorbike and NASCO Television set.
Mr Frederic Asante Agyiri was the Best Mathematics Teacher, Mr Bernard Adu Sakyi; Best Science Teacher, and Mr Ernest Sakyi Amoafo, Best English Language Teacher.
Ms Pearl Peprah received the Best Social Studies Teacher Award, Helen Mawuse Mensah; Best ICT Teacher, and Frederick K. Owusu, General Category.
Mr Cephas Narh Asalah of Obinnmba District Assembly Basic School was adjudged the Best Teacher for the Junior High School category; Evelyn Aboagye of Adeiso Anglican Primary; Best Teacher in the Primary School Category; Rebecca Karim, Asuokaw Odumase D/A Basic, Best Kindergarten Teacher, and Ernestina Ekrah; Best District Education Officer.
The programme was to appreciate, motivate, and encourage the teachers to continue to give of their best to improve the performance of the children to enjoy the Free Senior High School Policy, Mr Obeng said.
He called on other teachers in the area to work harder to be recognised.
Students who represented their schools in the Inter-School Mathematics and Science, Technology and Innovation Education Quiz competition were also honoured.
The competition was dubbed: “Fredrick Adom Quiz Competition”, organized by the District Education Directorate and sponsored by the MP.
“These are in fulfilment of the promises I made while campaigning for the position as the MP for this area,” he said.
The MP pledged to collaborate with Mr Eugene Kwabena Sackey, the District Chief Executive, to ensure improved educational performance and better standards of living.
