Ketan (W/R), Dec. 20, GNA – The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of the Ahantaman Senior High School (SHS) in the Western Region has constructed a hostel for students who were previously accommodated in a private hostel.
This has provided more students the opportunity to be in the boarding house, especially those from poor homes, as they are fed and their utilities paid, among other things.
The PTA has also paid the allowance of two doctors for the past four months with plans to pay those of four pantry men and a matron.
Mr Charles Mintaba, the PTA Chairman, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency called on parents to be friends with their children and know their problems to prevent them from engaging in social vices.
The PTA had agreed to organise a well-structured career guidance programme for the SHS Three students to expose them to a well-guided career path and commended the Board and parents for the co-operation given during the year, he said.
Mr Mintah said the Association had decided to contribute towards the completion of staff flats for all the 160 teachers in the school, as only 15 currently stayed on campus and expressed the hope that by June, next year, it would be completed and handed over.
