Mafi- Anfoe (VR), Nov. 27, GNA-A team of Indonesian Investors in Ghana, have expressed their readiness to extend their focus on agribusiness, education, infrastructure, socio-culture, oil and gas, and others in the Volta Region and Ghana at large.
The idea among others was to support Ghana for sustainable growth in the agricultural and many other sectors.
Mr Paskal AB Rois, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Indonesia in Ghana, and leader of the team during a maiden tour to some farms within the Central Tongu District of the Volta Region, with a focus on enhancing agribusiness in the interim, said the relationship between Ghana and Indonesia started since Dr Kwame Nkrumah’s regime and it was time they moved to the regions in Ghana to support areas of economic importance for growth.
He stated that Indonesia has produced several products for consumption around the globe, hence the focus must be on Indonesia “and because of the quality of things Indonesia produces, Ghana must become Indonesia and Indonesia to be Ghana.”
Mr Thomas Moore Zonyra, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Central Tongu in his welcome address, assured the Indonesian investors of their willingness to offer large litigation-free lands in the area to promote agricultural activities.
He revealed people in the District were always ready to provide the labour force for any project.
Dr Usra Hendra Harahap, the Ambassador of Indonesia in charge of West Africa, explained, there was a need for greater collaboration and engagement for bilateral trade between the two countries.
He said they would focus on every aspect of economic potentials in the country to bring development to the people of Ghana.
On agriculture, he gave the assurance to deploy a team of experts to visit the Central Tongu District to assess the various lands for high-value agricultural activities.
During the tour, the team visited shining Green Farm and Foods, located at Shinekope near Mafi- Anfoe and Staise Farms at Meyikpor where palm plantation, coconut, Mango, Yam, Ginger, Dragon foods, chilli pepper, Papaya, and others were found in larger sizes.
Mr Curtis -Shine Aboetaka, Founder and Managing Director of Shining Green Farm and Foods, producers of foodstuffs to the local and international markets, disclosed to the investors, he has over 1200 acres of farmlands for farming activities.
He stated his outfit engages in the export of ‘Gari’ cassava chips, cassava flour, and others.
He appealed to the investors and the government of Ghana to assist them to get the needed inputs, technology, and partnerships to expand.
Mr Emmanuel Tetteh-Amlalo, a retired educationist and owner of Staise Farms, expressed appreciation to the Indonesian delegation for choosing their District for that purpose.
He further called for efforts to upgrade palm plantation and its final production in the area instead of looking at the finished product elsewhere.
Mr Alexander Hottordze, Member of Parliament (MP) for Central Tongu, who participated in the tour, disclosed, the move would add value to agricultural activities in the area.
He emphasised that the private sector is the engine of growth and that “this would create jobs to the teeming unemployed youth in the area since youth unemployment could lead to insecurity.”
He assured the Indonesian investors of their collaboration in seeing their dream come true.
Other members of the Indonesian entourage include Mr Fahni Aris Innayah, Minister Counsellor for Political and Economic Affairs in Ghana, Mr Abdallah Dutoh, Senator and former Governor of the province of Aceh, Indonesia.
They pledged their readiness to partner with the Ghanaian private and public business communities with innovations towards prosperity.
