Accra, May 1, GNA-Standard Chartered Bank Ghana has donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to the Ga-East Municipal Hospital in Kwabenya.
This is keeping in line with the Bankâs brand promise to be âHere for Goodâ, particularly in times of adversity and its commitment to support emergency relief and aid those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in Ghana to the tune of GHS1million.
The PPEs comprising N95 masks, disposable coveralls and surgical gloves have been donated as the country marks the celebration of International Workersâ Day and in appreciation of the continued sacrifice of all frontline workers.
Madam Asiedua Addae, Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand and Marketing, Standard Chartered Bank, Ghana Limited, while presenting the items said, âWe are extremely grateful to our health and frontline workers for their dedication towards the fight against COVID-19.
âToday, we decided to join the country in commemorating International Workersâ Day by ensuring theyâre adequately resourced through the provision of PPEs so they can continue to play the all so important role of tackling this pandemic from the frontline.
âAt Standard Chartered Bank Ghana Limited, we live up to our brand promise âHere for Good,â and more so, delight in all those who do âgoodâ for our country. We hope the PPEâs will continue keeping you safe as you fight against COVID-19,â she added.
Receiving the items, Dr. Ebenezer Oduro- Mensah, Chief Medical Officer and Medical Superintendent Ga-East Municipal Hospital in Kwabenya said, âToday being May Day, and as we celebrate workers, what we are most in need of is equipment. These PPEâs come in handy and will be put to good useâ.
In previous weeks, as part of its GH¢1million commitment to support the fight against COVID-19 in Ghana, Standard Chartered Bank donated 1000 PPEs and a portable Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) equipment to the Greater Accra Regional Hospital and Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research respectively.
The PCR is to assist Noguchi to conduct widespread testing and detection of COVID-19 in Ghana.
