Philanthropist supports COVID-19 fight in Ketu South

Aflao (VR) April 30, GNA – Mr Felix Akakpo is popularly known as Akonta, an Accra-based businessman has donated some items to the Ketu South Municipal Health Directorate to help fight the COVID-19.

The items, which include 28 gun thermometers, 150 pieces of alcoholic-based hand sanitizers, 36 Veronica buckets and accompanying washing bowls, and 180 pieces of liquid soap were to be distributed to the 28 public health facilities and eight private health facilities in the Municipality.

Mr Akakpo said he was moved by calls from residents to provide items that were critical to health workers in the area to fight the virus, hence the donation.

“About three weeks ago, Mr Foga Nukunu (a former Assembly member for one of the electoral areas) called to inform me that some health facilities especially the Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound were facing challenges in the virus fight.

“I decided to support with these items because the times are such that we cannot rely on government alone to handle the situation if we’re to win this Coronavirus war,” he said.

Mr Joseph Kwami Degley, Ketu South Municipal Director of Health Services thanked the donor for the continuous support to the Directorate assuring that all the 36 health facilities in the Municipality would benefit from the items.

He said the presentation was timely and would be utilised to benefit both clients and staff of health facilities in containing the spread of the pandemic.
