Akatsi (V/R), May 24, GNA – The New Patriotic Party ( NPP) in the Akatsi South Constituency has distributed food items worth thousands of Ghana cedis to various Zongo communities in the Akatsi South District.

The items, which include bags of rice and cooking oil, were given to
widows, widowers, and the aged in the communities to mark this year’s, Eid Mubarak.

Mr. Leo Nelson Adzidogah, the District Chief Executive ( DCE ) and the Parliamentary Candidate for the NPP in the Constituency told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the donation was done to “uphold the teachings of the Holy Prophet Mohammed on the Holy month of Ramadan on the practice of self-discipline, self-control, sacrifice, and empathy for those who are less fortunate, thus encouraging actions of generosity and compulsory charity.”

He urged Muslims in the District to strictly adhere to all safety protocols and directives from the Government and the Health Ministry.

Some beneficiaries the GNA interacted with, expressed utmost joy for the gesture from the NPP.

The GNA observed that individuals and households in the District held private prayers instead of the normal open Eid prayers, due to COVID19.
