COVID-19: Obuasi Golden City Association supports COVID-19 fight

Obuasi (Ash), April 18, GNA – The Obuasi Golden City Association has donated Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and other items to support the fight against coronavirus in the Obuasi Municipality.

The items which included some Veronica buckets, hand sanitizers, soaps, and tissues, were presented to the Obuasi Municipal Health Directorate and the Divisional Police Command.

Nana Osei Assibey, Vice Chairman of the association who presented the items said they were the contribution of the association towards the fight against the spread of the virus in the community.

He said the fight against the pandemic was a concerted effort and called on other organizations and individuals to come on board to combat the spread of the disease in the country.

Dr. Kwadwo Asamoah Nyarko Jectey, Medical Superintendent of the Obuasi Government Hospital, praised members of the association for showing greater concern in the fight against the spread of the virus.

He said the items would help the front line staff and health workers to protect themselves while working to trace or manage infected persons.

“What you have given out to the Police and the Health Directorate is very timely,” the medical superintendent said.

Dr Jectey expressed concern about the inability of residents in the Municipality to keep to the social distancing directive and said it was important for them to adhere strictly to the directives to help prevent the spread of the virus in the Municipality.

The Obuasi Divisional Police commander Chief Superintendent Joseph Nyaaba, said the donation would motivate the police to give out their best on the field.

He appealed to other organizations and individuals to support the Police in this hectic fight against the COVID-19 pandemic as “we are hoping to come out victorious over the disease”.
