Somanya (E/R), Jan 15, GNA – The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the three Krobo enclaves have expressed their heartfelt gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for appointing Mrs. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey as the Eastern Regional Minister-designate.
The three Krobo enclaves consist of Yilo Krobo, Lower Manya Krobo, and Upper Manya Krobo, all located in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
This commendation was contained in a statement jointly signed by Mr. John Atteh Matey, Chairperson of the Lower Manya Krobo Constituency; Mr. Eric Keteku Odzeyem, Chairperson of the Yilo Krobo Constituency; and Moro Yakubu, Chairperson of the Upper Manya Constituency of the NDC.
The chairpersons expressed confidence that Ms. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey’s appointment would significantly contribute to the development of the Eastern Region and the Krobo Municipalities.
“We, the National Democratic Congress Krobo bloc, would like to express our heartfelt appreciation for appointing Mrs. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey as the Eastern Regional Minister,” the trio said.
“This decision is a testament to your commitment to empowering capable leaders and promoting development in the Eastern Region.”
The statement described Mrs. Awatey’s appointment as welcoming news to them and expressed confidence that her expertise and experience will benefit the region.
The statement said, “We believe that her leadership will help drive growth, improve infrastructure, and enhance the overall well-being of our people. Once again, we thank you for this appointment and for your unwavering dedication to the progress of our great nation.”
“We look forward to working closely with Mrs. Akosua Adjei Awatey to ensure the successful implementation of our party’s policies and programs in the Eastern Region.”
On January 14, 2024, President John Dramani Mahama requested that Parliament approve the appointment of ten regional ministers.
The presidency had issued a communication to Speaker of Parliament, Mr. Alban Bagbin, requesting that the nominees be vetted and confirmed.
This is a crucial step in the President’s efforts to strengthen governance and ensure good administration throughout the regions.
Here are the ten nominees for regional ministers:
1. Northern Region – Ali Adolf John
2. Oti Region – John Kwadwo Gyapong
3. Volta Region – James Gunu
4. Eastern Region – Mrs. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey
5. North-East Region – Ibrahim Tia
6. Ashanti Region – Dr. Frank Amoakohene
7. Upper East Region – Akamugri Donatus Atanga
8. Ahafo Region – Charity Gardiner
9. Savannah Region – Salisu Bi-Awuribe
10. Greater Accra Region – Linda Ocloo, MP
