Assin Manso (C/R), Dec 26, GNA – The Assin Manso Senior High School (SHS) has launched its 60th anniversary of academic excellence and community service in the Assin South District of the Central Region.
The launch, which coincided with the school’s Founders Day, was attended by all stakeholders including old students, teachers, parents, the clergy and community leaders.
It was held on the theme: “Fulfilling the aspirations of the Founding Fathers, The Role of AMOSU in the School’s Development.”
Mr Eric Nyarkoh, the Headmaster, expressed gratitude to the founding fathers and all stakeholders who had contributed to the school’s growth and development over the years for the good work done.
He said the six decades of academic excellence had paid off as the school had been upgraded from a category ‘C’ school to category ‘B’.
He mentioned inadequate classroom blocks and residential accommodation for students and staff, and insufficient furniture for students among others as some of the challenges.
Mr Nyarkoh, therefore, appealed for the early completion of on-going GETFund projects at the school to ease congestion.
Currently, the school has a population of about 3,000 students.
Mr Clement Owusu Fordjour, President of the 1991-year group of Assin Manso Old Students Union (AMOSU), appealed to past students to support financially and get actively involved in the school activities to lift its image higher.
Nana Atta Banafo II, the Chief of Assin Andoe, who graced the occasion, said he would ensure the needs of the school were met.
He appealed to stakeholders, alumni and the entire Assinman to support the school for its continuous growth.
