Akatsi Municipal Hospital holds staff durbar, awards deserving staff

Akatsi (VR), Dec. 23, GNA – The Management of the Akatsi Municipal Hospital in the Volta Region, has commended some hard-working staff for their selflessness and commitment to work, and awarded them prizes.

A total of eight award winners were recognised for their various roles towards promoting quality healthcare delivery at the hospital.

This was announced by the Management of the Hospital led by Dr Iris Dzifa Adzah, the Medical Superintendent of the facility during their end-of-year staff durbar marked with other activities.

“Reflecting on the past year, we must acknowledge our incredible achievements as a team. Each one of you played a crucial role in making this possible.”

Dr Adzah mentioned several achievements and activities that their outfit had taken over the period.

These included capacity-building workshops for staff, training of midwives on triaging and emergency obstetric and newborn care, regular clinical and mortality meetings, and celebration of global health events such as World Hand Hygiene Day, and Breast Cancer Month, among others.

On their achievements, she indicated that they embarked on patient-centered initiatives to improve client satisfaction, training of physician assistant interns, installation of CCTV cameras, oxygen plant, increase in revenue generation, availability of consumables, and essential medications.

The rest included support from USAID/Q4H, supply of essential medical equipment worth over GHC 500,000, prompt payment of casual staff, and others.

“These achievements highlight the exceptional commitment and teamwork that define the hospital,” Dr Adzah added.

She expressed appreciation to every staff and the entire workforce of the hospital for their commitment.

However, Dr Adzah highlighted some key challenges such as inadequate working spaces and accommodation for staff, security threats, shortage of staff, non-mechanisation of IGF staff, and poor drainage and waste management system of the facility.

She also highlighted the facility’s strategic plan for 2024 to 2027 as well as a report on the 2024 client satisfaction survey.

The meeting, which brought together staff from the various units, saw Mr Albert Edzordzinam Attipoe from the Eye Department as the overall best worker for the 2023 year under review.

Mr Sylvanus Totime and Mr David Arthur picked the first and second run-up positions respectively, with Miss Esther Awo Edekor grabbing the 3rd slot.

Madam Doris Atigbor, was adjudged as the overall best orderly for 2023, the Mental Health Unit was the overall best-behaved unit, Outreach team was the best team for the year under review.

The awards, comprising citations and an undisclosed amount of cash, also had Dr Adzah recognised as the best leader for the period.
