Bui Power Authority gets multi-purpose office complex

Bui, (Bono), Dec. 19, GNA – Mr Samuel Kofi Dazamesi, the Chief Executive Officer of the Bui Power Authority (BPA), managers of the Bui Generating Station (BGS), has inaugurated a six-storey ultra-modern building  at the dam’s site at Bui in the Banda District of the Bono Region. 
 
It will serve as a centralized hub for the operational and administrative functions of the Authority, embodying sustainability and innovation. 

The multi-purpose office complex is equipped with solar panels, green spaces, and energy-efficient ventilation systems, the facility promotes renewable energy use while optimizing energy consumption.  
 
The “Fred Oware Block”, named after Mr Fred Oware, a former CEO of the BPA, further ensures a secure and safe work environment with controlled access systems, a secured perimeter, and compliance with international safety standards 
 
Speaking at a short ceremony held at Bui, Mr Dzamesi said the Authority was spearheading solar energy projects aimed at expanding sustainable power generation. 
 
Earlier, Mr Dzamesi commissioned 45 Megawatts (MW) solar projects to add to the nation’s renewable energy mix. 
 
The project has a 40MW land-based solar plant and five megawatts floating solar farm, constructed on the Bui Dam Reservoir, which is the first of its kind and the largest in Africa. 

Mr Dzamesi explained that the Authority was also putting up an additional 10 MW floating solar farm on the Bui dam reservoir, saying the work on the project was progressing steadily, anticipated to be completed within three months. 
 
He said the solar projects were in line with the nation’s commitment to increasing renewable energy to 10 percent of its energy mix by 2030. 
 
“The BPA’s impact goes beyond power generation, touches lives, creates opportunities and fosters hope for the future,” Madam Justina Owusu-Banahene, the Bono Regional Minister indicated. 
 
She applauded the Board, Management and the staff of the BPA for their tireless efforts, exceptional leadership and dedication to national development, saying “in fact, they have demonstrated that progress is not only measured in megawatts of power but also in the wellbeing of the people.” 
 
“Their achievements truly serve as an inspiration to all institutions striving to contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s progressive, growth and development,” the regional Minister added.
