Abesim, (Bono), Dec. 5, GNA-Mr Kwasi Ameyaw-Cheremeh, the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Sunyani East Constituency in the Bono Region has inaugurated the newly constructed Abesim Community Market.
He said with the development he had brought to the town; he was highly optimistic that the electorates would vote to retain him as the MP, and vote for Alhaji Dr Bawumia as the President to complete the on-going projects in the town to bring remarkable improvement on their lives.
The market with pavement, constructed by the Sunyani Municipal Assembly had 13 stores, additional 18 sheds for individual vegetable, foodstuff, dry fish, and meat sellers, as well as washrooms and office.
Speaking at a short ceremony held at Abesim, near Sunyani, Mr Ameyaw-Cheremeh said he was hopeful that the market would not only make it convenient for the traders to transact their businesses but also spur rapid socio-economic growth and development of the town.
He said that a committee comprising a representative from the MP’s office, Assembly and the Abesim Divisional Area would be set up to facilitate the release of the market stores to the deserving traders, and asked the market women to remain calm
Mr Ameyaw-Cheremeh indicated that construction works on the 3,200 seater-capacity durbar grounds at the Abesim Presbyterian Primary and Junior High School Park as well as a standard artificial pitch at the Roman Catholic Primary and JHS Park would all be completed very soon.
He said the government recognised and appreciated the loyalty the people had shown to the NPP since 1992, saying as one of the strongholds of the NPP in the constituency, he would also ensure that the town benefited equally from development projects.
Mr John Ansu Kumi, the Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive said the MP and Alhaji Dr Bawumia were behind the progressive development of the town and urged the electorates there to appreciate that by voting for them on December 7.
He said the MP played an instrumental role on the construction of the bridge on the Nsasananim River which hitherto remained a major concern of the people.
Barima Kumi Acheaw III, the Chief of Abesim said the people would remain grateful to the government for the level of development brought to the town and however appealed to the MP to facilitate the upgrade of the Abesim Health Center.
He said population growth in the area had exerted pressure on the health center and called on the government to upgrade the facility into a poly clinic status.
